PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE | September 28, 2022 \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>Seventeen (17) participants from various high-value commodity specializations (banana, mango, durian, and vegetables) attended the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training in Brgy. Nanyo, Panabo City, Davao del Norte on September 28, 2022.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

FPA Regional Officer (RO) Marrisa G. Napalit and Provincial Officer (PO) Cheery B. Agrade served as resource speakers and discussed the two (2) modules of the PhilGAP.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

GAP refers to the practices that address environmental, economic and social sustainability for on-farm processes, and which result in safe and quality food and nonfood agricultural products (Republic Act No. 10611).<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

During the discussion, RO Napalit highlighted the GAP\u2019s recommendations on environmental management and worker\u2019s health, safety, and welfare. Meanwhile, PO Agrade further emphasized the proper use and handling of agricultural inputs, proper wearing of PPEs, the importance of pesticide label information, and first aid management in case of accidental poisoning.<\/span><\/p>

The training was organized through the initiation of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) Davao Region together with the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office XI PhilGAP Team. ###<\/span><\/p>
